Visiting Hours

Visitors can be good medicine for patients.  Family members and friends are welcome to visit.  However, patient care is our primary concern at Anderson Hospital, and, in order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established for each unit.  Under special circumstances, visiting may also be restricted.

Visiting hours and regulations are available at the information desk on the main floor.  Please follow these guidelines.  If you need additional information, please check with the nurse on the unit.

Visiting Regulations
Following are general guidelines for visitors:

  1. Tobacco use is completely prohibited anywhere on our property.
  2. Visitors must dress appropriately and must wear shirts and shoes.
  3. In order for patients to rest, we recommend no more than two visitors at the bedside at one time.  Visitors in semi-private rooms should be considerate of both patients.
  4. People with colds, sore throats or any contagious diseases should not visit patients.
  5. Visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.
  6. Visitors under the age of 12 are discouraged.

Overnight Accommodations for Visitors:
For both privacy and security reasons, accommodations for overnight visitors will be handled at the nursing supervisor’s discretion.  Priority will be given to those visitors of patients with special needs or patients in critical condition.

Condition Reports
Any personal information about your diagnosis and treatment must come from your physician, and this information is only available to members of your immediate family whom you designate to receive it or your power of attorney for healthcare.

Anderson Hospital adheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act's (HIPAA) privacy rule.  Within that rule, Anderson Hospital may release a patient's one-word condition and location to the media without obtaining prior patient authorization.

One word conditions include:  undetermined, good, fair, serious or critical.  We can also inform callers that a patient has been transferred.

Patients have the option to expressly state that he or she does not want information released—including confirmation of his or her presence in our facility.

Gifts for Patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients.  Please check with the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate.  On the intensive care unit, please check with the unit regarding any gifts for patients.

Parking
Parking for patients and visitors is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  All parking at Anderson Hospital is free.  Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas or certain designated areas.  Please be sure to lock your car.  If something happens which causes you to need assistance with your vehicle, please call the Security Department at extension 5114.

Waiting Areas
There are specially designated lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the main floor in the lobby.  Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the intensive care unit, the emergency department, surgery department and radiology department.  During certain hours, a volunteer hostess is on duty in the surgery waiting room to keep family members informed about the progress of surgery.
