Anderson Hospital is pleased to be the first in the Metro East to introduce the da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System to our operating room and to our community. This is a significant arrival because of the value it offers our surgical staff and those in the region we serve.
da Vinci’s advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand. “This acquisition extends an offering to our patients to receive minimally invasive surgery for a range of complex conditions,” said Lisa Klaustermeier, Chief Nursing Officer. “It has the capabilities to be used for certain urological, gynecological and general surgery procedures.”

Commenting on the introduction of the da Vinci Si System, President and Chief Executive Officer Keith A. Anderson Hospital Urologists, Dr. Jeff Parres, Dr. Demetrios Katsikas and Dr. Travis Bullock will be among the first to utilize the system. The da Vinci® has become the number one treatment choice for prostate cancer. “Besides offering real cancer control, the da Vinci prostatectomy helps men feel like themselves again in no time,” said Dr. Jeff Parres, Urologist on staff at Anderson Hospital. “What’s more — a recovery period of less than 48 hours — half the time after a conventional surgery — lets our patients go home with significantly less pain, and virtually no scarring.” Dr. Bullock, a specialist in female urology, has already been using the technology at Missouri Baptist. “The da Vinci system allows me to perform the ‘Gold Standard’ operation for vaginal prolapsed with minimal pain and recovery. I am excited to be performing this procedure here in Southern Illinois.”
