Anderson Hospital Surgical Services Department is committed to the communities we serve. Within minutes of your home, board certified surgeons and board certified anesthesiologist are available to provided quality care. The surgeons are supported by a team of highly skilled registered nurse and surgical technicians who are devoted to ensuring a positive surgical experience for you and your family before, during and after your procedure. The majority of our nurses and technicians are certified, which is achieved by a competency credentialing process.

The Services and Departments:
The surgical services department is equipped with state of the art operating suites, utilizing the latest technology and equipment. Anderson Hospital was the first hospital in Southern Illinois to acquire the da Vinci Si surgical System in 2010. The state of the art robotic platform allows surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through a small incision with minimal blood loss.
Over 7000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries are performed annually by 43 surgeon’s board certified in the following specialties:
Ear Nose and Throat
Many of the surgical procedures are performed as an outpatient procedures, which allows you to be discharged the same day. These patients are cared for in private rooms before and after the surgical procedure. In the event a longer hospital stay is required, you have the convenience of being directly admitted to the hospital. If your surgical plan includes a stay in the hospital your stay will begin in the surgery department and after your procedure you will transferred to a room in the hospital.
Pre Admission Testing (PAT)
Patients will have a visit with an RN either face to face or by telephone to obtain any pertinent health history.
Patients with known complicated health history or scheduled for major surgery will have a face to face interview with a nurse. You may speak to an Anesthesiologist to determine if additional information is needed from your Cardiologist, Pulmonologist or Nephrologists. The PreAdmission Testing RN will give you instructions to follow the day of surgery which will include arrival time, driving, eating, medication instructions and anticipated discharge status. Your testing, blood work, EKG’s etc., will be completed the same day.
Telephone interviewed patients, will be scheduled for an appointment to complete EKG’s, urinalysis, and blood work which are conveniently completed in our department. Radiology tests will be completed in the radiology department.
All testing will be reviewed by the PreAdmission Testing RN Liason. Her role is to communicate the testing and health history results to the Anesthesiologist and t assure your health information and is completed and ready for the day of surgery. She is available Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (closed on holidays) and can be reached @ 391-5612.
Anderson Hospital Endoscopy lab is staffed with board-certified physicians, registered nurses and technicians providing diagnostics and therapeutic endoscopy services in a safe, friendly, and professional atmosphere. We provide private rooms for our clients and their families before and after the procedure. Each endoscopy procedure suite at Anderson Hospital utilizes state of the art, high definition endoscopy equipment, enhanced with high definition video monitors. At Anderson Hospital our patient safety is assured through the availability of anesthesia services directed by board certified anesthesiologist. In addition, the pre-procedure care, intra-op care and post-procedure care will be directed by registered nurses with critical care and endoscopy experience.
