Intensive Care

Our multidisciplinary team is committed to providing excellent care to you and your family.

The team is comprised of several disciplines that will assist us with providing the advanced care you need.  Our hospitalist and other physician specialists will also be involved in your care while you are in the ICU.

Our Intensivist, who is a specialist in Critical Care Medicine, will be coordinating your care.  Please feel comfortable asking any of our physicians questions about your care.

Each day at 10 AM, the critical care team will be making rounds in each room.  You and your family are encouraged to participate in our rounds.  Please feel free to ask questions.

If you are not able to attend rounds, but would like to speak to our Intensivist, please let your nurse know.

Our Intensivist is available to meet with families each day from 7am to 3pm.

Rest is a priority for our critically ill patients.  Be assured that a gentle touch and your quiet presence can offer assurance and support.

Visitors are welcome in the ICU, but are limited to 2 people in the room at a time.

One family member may stay overnight in the patient’s room.

Visitors under the age of 12 are not permitted.

Please understand that you may be asked to step out of the room during emergencies, procedures or at times when the staff needs to focus on care of your loved one.

You may call at any time to check on your loved one by calling our direct number (618) 391-6350.  Please be patient if the RN cannot come to the phone right away.  Caring for your loved one is our first priority!

Please designate one person in your family to call and share the information with other family members.

Please ring the doorbell when you arrive to visit.  Staff members will ask you to sign in and you will be given a badge.

We ask that you do not bring food into the unit.

Plants, live flowers and balloons are not permitted.

All physicians, physicians' assistants, and nurse practitioners providing services in this hospital are independent contractors or provide service under contract. They are not employees, agents, or servants of Anderson Hospital. These professionals are responsible for their own medical judgement, actions and billing.
